Student surveys
There were several things that I learned from the student survey. The first was that more students liked math than I originally predicted. Out of 20 students, there were only three students that stated that they disliked math. There were seven students that said they liked or loved math. My original thoughts would be that there would have been about seven or eight students that disliked math and only three that liked or loved math. Another important fact that I got from the survey was how students said that they like to learn. The survey showed that 75% of the students learn from practice problems and 45% learn from taking notes. The last question on the survey that provided good information was the question that asked students, “What type of classroom activities do you like to do?” From this question, I found that students like to use dry erase boards and work in groups.

Student observations
From my student observations, I learned that my high-level student’s average participation was 4.8 (out of 5). I found that my average student was a 3.8 and my low student was a 3.5. The data also showed me that the highest average score across all levels was the small group activity, which is one of the lowest for the high student. I also found that my average and low-level students struggled with technology, opening activities, and notes. From my comments, I found that a lot of the participation depended on the mood of the student. If the student became upset or frustrated, they tended to shut down and not work to their full potential. I found that my high-level student fully participated in five of the eight activities on a normal basis. My average student only fully participated in individual practice on a regular basis. My low student did not have areas that they always participated fully. My low student’s best activities were whole class activity, small group activity, assessments, and closing activities.
Exit tickets
I found that the majority of students would attempt the exit tickets. I also found that overall students did well on the exit tickets. When there were mistakes, they were common and I was able to use them to guide instruction for the following period. I also found that students began to sharing their feelings on the lesson and share personal feelings about why they did not do well. I found that what and how they wrote showed a lot of emotion (sometimes frustrations) for the material. The ranking system was also helpful to guide what would need to be reviewed and which students would need more guidance and support the next day.
